Car accidents can happen to anyone. Unfortunately, some accidents can have fatal outcomes, and drivers could end up facing criminal charges if authorities believe that it suits the circumstances. In fact, charges for manslaughter could result, and a driver could be at risk of serious consequences.

It was recently reported that a crash in Texas resulted in one fatality and charges for one driver. Apparently, a 38-year-old man was driving a utility truck north when he failed to remain in the correct lane due to looking at directions on his cellphone. As a result, his vehicle collided head-on with a southbound SUV. It appears that the drivers were the only occupants in the vehicles.

The collision resulted in the driver of the SUV suffering injuries that ultimately proved fatal. He was taken from the scene to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was reported as being 20 years old. The driver of the utility truck was assessed for injuries at the scene. He was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant and is also facing a charge of manslaughter in relation to this accident.

The man accused in this Texas crash undoubtedly has a lot on his mind. He may feel remorse about the outcome of the crash but also needs to focus on defending against the manslaughter charge leveled against him. It may be in his best interests to explore his available criminal defense options to determine how to work toward the most favorable outcomes possible for his predicament.
