Animal abuse charges brought against man after dog stabbed

Aug 27, 2019 | Animal Cruelty Charges

Lashing out in violent ways can often have serious consequences. In some cases, people may act aggressively without fully thinking about what they are doing. They often also do not expect to end up facing criminal charges as a result. However, if someone is accused of animal abuse during a violent outburst, legal issues are likely.

One man in Texas is currently facing this type of ordeal. According to reports, the man’s girlfriend has a dog, and after the dog urinated on the bed, the man apparently had a violent outburst. He purportedly used a hunting knife to stab the dog and then allegedly used pliers to break the dog’s teeth. Authorities became alerted to the situation, but it was unclear who called. Nonetheless, the man was taken into custody.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian office to be treated and was returned to the owner as it recovers. The man is currently facing a criminal charge for third-degree felony animal cruelty. It was noted that the man could face time in jail and a fine of up to $10,000 if he is convicted of the allegations.

Acting rashly can often have unintended consequences, but those consequences must still be handled. This Texas man undoubtedly does not want to end up in jail due to this alleged animal abuse, and it is important to remember that he is considered innocent until — and only if — he is convicted of the allegations in a court of law. Preparing for his case may help him handle the charges in a meaningful way.
